Frequently Asked Questions

Is inventory counting mandatory for annual accounts?

According to Article 2:10 of the Civil Code and the Guidelines for Annual Reporting, you are required to keep accurate inventory records. An annual count and correct inventory valuation for the annual accounts are essential. NTAB helps with a reliable valuation that complies with laws and regulations.

A healthy inventory value is balanced with sales, liquidity and storage capacity. Too much inventory means risk of value loss and unnecessary costs, while too little inventory leads to missed revenue. Together with you, NTAB analyzes the composition and value of your inventory so that you can target optimization without these stocks lapsing into obsolescence. For the financier, an analysis of this is also important to clearly understand the true value of the inventory in a liquidation.

A stock valuation is more than a number. It is a reflection of your business operations. NTAB helps companies looking to sell, restructure, or seek financing, with clear appraisals based on liquidation value, market value, and marketability. Whether you’re applying for financing or considering selling, a clear valuation of stock helps make better decisions.

Market value is what a stock will fetch in a normal, considered sale. The liquidation value is the expected proceeds in a forced sale under time pressure, such as bankruptcy. Depending on the purpose of the appraisal, we determine which value basis applies.

Turnaround time depends on the size and complexity of the inventory. A standard appraisal with physical inspection and report is usually completed within a few business days. In urgent situations, such as a relaunch after bankruptcy, we work on short notice.

Our appraisal report is useful for financing applications to banks and asset-based lenders, audits, corporate acquisitions, mergers, restructurings and bankruptcy proceedings. The report meets applicable standards and is certified.
